We recognize that COVID-19 must be taken very seriously. There is nothing more important than the health and well-being of our citizens. We are also aware that this situation is evolving on a rapid basis and The City of New Kensington is closely monitoring what is occurring and adapting to constant changes. We will be strictly following the recommendations from the local, state, and federal authorities. We will take all of the recommendations being made by the CDC very seriously. The Redevelopment Authority of the City of New Kensington has prepared a Participation Plan to provide for and encourage citizen participation in the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. Read the plan to learn more.


 

Businesses in the City of New Kensington must recycle! Pennsylvania’s Municipal Waste Planning Recycling and Waste Reduction Act (Act 101) and the City’s Solid Waste Code requires owners of commercial, municipal, and institutional properties to provide recycling services to tenants or occupants of their buildings. Not only is commercial recycling required, it is also important for preserving resources, reducing emissions, and improving the quality of life in our community. Click here to learn more.

2024 New Garbage Collection Schedule - Beginning January 1, we will no longer be collecting every residence in the City on a single day each week.  Some residence will experience a change to the day that their trash is collected. Please refer to the attached map and calendar to confirm your new collection day. Also, New Year’s Day falls on a Monday this year so the first collection of the year will be delayed by one day. Click here to learn more.


 

City Hall will be closed on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 for Election Day.


 

Spring Cleanup will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024 from 7 am to 3 pm at the City Garage at the corner of Stevenson Boulevard and Powers Drive. Click here for more information.
